John Albertson is the David Croll Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. He received his BS in Civil Engineering from SUNY Buffalo and then worked for several years at Northeast Utilities in CT as a Project Engineer. While working as an engineer he earned an MBA (Finance) at the University of Hartford and also his Professional Engineers license (CT). He then returned to academia, earning a Masters at Yale University and a Ph.D. at University of California Davis. Dr. Alberton held faculty positions at University of Virginia and Duke University, where he was department chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering, before moving to Cornell. His research interests are directed toward turbulent transport in the atmospheric boundary layer, from both numerical and experimental perspectives. He has published over 100 journal publications.
